Wedding Color Schemes

0

Wedding color schemes should be cohesive. The actual colors that you select do not matter, but they have to work well together.

There are no right or wrong choices, but there are certainly colors that do not complement each other.

When you are speaking with wedding planners, they may begin to talk about color palettes and monochromatic themes vs. triadic.

These are terms you should know when trying to combine colors.

Wedding color combinations

A color wheel is extremely helpful when selecting wedding color combinations. If you have one specific color picked, you can then decide if you want to use only that one color or select another color that will complement that choice.

If you only pick one color, you can then vary the tones and hues to create different effects. This is a monochromatic scheme.

Wedding color palettes

A color wheel will indicate which colors are complementary and, which are adjacent. Wedding color palettes should not try to incorporate more than three colors. Trying to work with more than three creates confusion and there is no overall flow. Many couples like to choose one color as the primary choice and then use two or three colors as highlights.

Summer wedding color schemes

Summer wedding color schemes run the entire gamut of the spectrum. In the summer months, you will see brides choosing everything from black to neon greens. Many couples like to select their colors based on the theme of the wedding and not on the season.

At a fairy wedding, you will likely see all the different pastels, whereas a forest wedding might make use of deep greens and purples.

Autumn brides often select the oranges and yellows of fall. It is not often that orange is seen at a winter wedding. Popular wedding colors for the winter depend upon the month. Many brides like to use the Christmas colours if they are planning the ceremony before Christmas. After the New Year, the wonderland theme becomes more popular with colors reflecting the image of snow and sparkling ice. Blues and silvers are very popular for this time of year.

Beach wedding color schemes

Colors are often picked by location. One trend for beach wedding color schemes is to select light colors that remind people of seashells and sand.

They use light pinks and beiges and even a bit of green or blue to create a seaside effect. Other couples gear their beach schemes towards the deep blue sea. They select dark blue as the ocean color and then select colors that complement this shade.

Wedding color schemes do not follow any trend or season. They usually reflect the preference of the couple. The important thing to remember is to make certain that you select shades and tones that add to the atmosphere and help you to create the mood that you want to set.
